MODS FOR AGE OF EMPIRES 4
Mod support is on the way for Age of Empires IV, but it won't be accessible till "early 2022," per the product page on Steam.
CIVS of AGE OF EMPIRES 4
Age of Empires IV will feature eight civilisations at launch, all of which are based on mediaeval cultures spanning Europe, Asia, and beyond. The following are the eight civs:
- English
- Mongols
- Chinese
- Sultanate of Delhi
- The Abbasid Dynasty
- French
- Imperial Holy Roman Empire
- Rus
The civilisations in Age of Empires 4 will be more asymmetrical in design. The English, for example, will seem and play more like a typical Age of Empires civilization, but the Mongols will have more customised mechanisms – such as migrating structures – that will give them a distinct feel. Although there may be some similarity, the other civilisations will most likely be constructed to suit various positions on this scale. Every civ, for example, includes basic pike, ranged, and mounted units to maintain the primary battle triangle.
Civilisations are also meant to represent cultures at a more historically authentic level, as a way of recognising that different entities controlled the same parts of the world across history, even in the mediaeval era of Age of Empire IV
As a result, while the English and French may seem to be synonymous with the nations to which their names are given, the Delhi Sultanate only ruled areas of South Asia throughout the mediaeval era, and the Abbasid Caliphate was only one of the Middle Eastern empires. In response to player complaints about geographical coverage, Microsoft announced that more civilizations and civilisations will be published after the game's first release to further explore the same region.
CAMPAIGNS FOR THE AGE OF EMPIRES 4
Age of Empires 4 will have four campaigns, each with 35 missions. The four confirmed campaigns are as follows:
- Conquest of Normandy (English civ)
- The Hundred Years War (French civ, we think)
- Mongols
- Moscow's Ascension (Rus civ)
Instead than focusing on the life of a single historical character, Age of Empires IV campaigns will span generations and cover many people, providing historical background in a more documentary-style approach.
According to Adam Isgreen, there will be about three hours of material to support the campaign objectives, with a lot of it using real-world footage with overlaid graphics.in the style of the game, but there will also be other types of video content that they aren't talking about right now.
GAMEPLAY OF AGE OF EMPIRES 4
The game will be completely 3D, with more realistic landscapes and more noticeable elevation, as well as woodlands where forces may hide for ambush tactics. The maps will be procedural as well.
The number of units per player will be limited at roughly 200. This means that in an eight-player multiplayer match, you can have up to 1600 troops battling for the same area.
